Carlos Ruiz Zafón Biography
Barcelona, Â Los Angeles,
My fascination for dragons goes back a long way. Barcelona is a city of dragons, which adorn or guard many of its facades and I fear that I am now one of them. Maybe this; a sense solidarity with the little monster, is the reason I have collected and sheltered them in my house for years, effectively making it into a lair. My latest census reveals that I have more than dragon-related creatures and the number is increasing every month. As well as having been born in the year of the dragon (of course), I have much more in common with these green, fire-breathing beasts. We are creatures of the night, not very sociable, dislike wandering knights and are difficult to get to know.•
