    Dr. John Mata received his undergraduate degree in chemistry at Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois. He was accepted into the Honors Program in Medical Education at Northwestern University in Chicago and received his MD degree in 1980. Dr. Mata went on to Baylor College of Medicine in Houston where he completed his Urology residency including a six month fellowship at Texas Children’s Hospital in Pediatric Urology. Dr. Mata joined the staff at LSU Shreveport Department of Urology in 1986 and is currently the Director of Pediatric Urology, where he teaches and mentors residents and medical students who participate in his practice of pediatric and general urology.He is the Eugene St. Martin Professor in Urology at LSU Health Shreveport Department of Urology. Dr. Mata has served on many committees and boards and has presented at numerous conferences across the country as well as collaborating on many publications and abstracts. Dr. Mata is active in the American Urological Association and the American Academy of Pediatrics as well as numerous other societies and associations. His current interests are in the undescended testes and hypospadias.

    Juan Manuel Mata García (born 28 April 1988) is a Spanish professional footballer who plays for A-League Men club Western Sydney Wanderers. He primarily plays as an attacking midfielder, but can also play as a winger.

    A graduate of Real Madrid's youth academy, Mata played for Real Madrid Castilla in 2006–07, before joining Valencia in the summer of 2007. He became an integral part of the club's midfield, making 174 appearances over the course of four seasons and winning the Copa del Rey. In 2011, Mata signed for English club Chelsea for a fee believed to be in the region of €28 million and established himself as the team's focal player.[3] In his first two seasons, he won the UEFA Champions League, the FA Cup, and the UEFA Europa League.

    Despite Mata's stature at the club, he fell out of favour at Chelsea under newly appointed manager José Mourinho and was sold to Manchester United in January 2014, for a fee of £37.1 million.
