Cardinal Kazimierz Nycz, Metropolitan Archbishop of Warsaw, Ordinary for the Eastern-Rite faithful in Poland, was born on 1 February 1950 in Stara Wieś, in the Archdiocese of Kraków (now in the Diocese of Bielsko-Żywiec), Poland. Upon finishing high school, he entered the seminary and was ordained to the diaconate by Cardinal Karol Wojtyła in 1972. He was ordained a priest on 20 May 1973.
In 1976, he earned a licentiate in theology at the Pontifical Theological Academy of Kraków and in 1977 began his studies at the Catholic University of Lublin where in 1981 he completed his doctorate and wrote his thesis on the implementation of the Second Vatican Council’s catechetical renewal in the archdiocese of Kraków. Following his studies, he was director of the catechesis office in the archdiocese and taught catechesis at the Pontifical Theological Academy of Kraków.
On 14 May 1988 he was appointed titular Bishop of Villa del Re and Auxiliary of Kraków. He was ordained a bishop on 4 June 1988.
In 1999, he was made president of the Committee for Catholic Education, the centre of his activities was to adapt the Polish catechesis to the post-Vatican II catechetical documents of the Church.
On 9 June 2004 he was appointed Bishop of Koszalin-Kołobrzeg.

Kazimierz Nycz (Stara Wieś, Polonia, 1 de febrero de 1950) es un prelado polaco, un cardenal de la Iglesia católica. Es el actual arzobispo de Varsovia, habiendo servido anteriormente como Obispo de Koszalin-Kołobrzeg 2004-2007. [editar]Kazimierz nació en Stara Wies. Se graduó en 1967, luego ingresó al Seminario Mayor de Cracovia.
En 1976, obtuvo una licenciatura en la Facultad de Teología de la Akademia Papieska Teologiczna (Pontificia Academia de Teología), de Cracovia, y luego, en 1977, inició sus estudios de doctorado en la Universidad Católica de Lublin, donde en 1981, obtuvo un doctorado en estudios de catequesis (tesis: "Aplicación de la renovación catequística del Concilio Vaticano II en la Arquidiócesis de Cracovia").
